The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) on Monday night stating that earlier that day a Hong Kong man committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room in Cotai, the Judiciary Police said in a statement.

The statement said that the deceased was a middle-aged Hong Kong man.

According to the statement, the man had stayed in the hotel room since Sunday afternoon and never left it. When the hotel staff noticed that he hadn’t checked out, they entered the room at 6:45 p.m. on Monday and discovered that he had hanged himself in the bathroom, prompting them to report the case to the police.

A preliminary examination of the body confirmed that the victim’s injuries were consistent with those caused by hanging and no other suspicious injuries were found.

There was a chair next to the decreased and two suicide notes were found. The statement said that a post-mortem examination will be performed.

The case was listed as a dead body found, and has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, according to the statement.
