A local man was arrested yesterday for killing his dog because it “barked too much”, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Kai Sang said during a regular press briefing yesterday.
Lei said a woman called the police on Monday afternoon, alleging that her husband, surnamed Wu, had beaten their dog to death in their flat in Patane. Wu had left the flat when the police arrived.
Lei said the police located the suspect, who is in his sixties, yesterday and made the arrest. Wu admitted to having beaten the dog on Monday with a wooden stick because he was annoyed by its continuous barking.
According to Lei, Wu told the police he had only hit his dog on the head with a stick once, but it collapsed on the floor and then died. He left the carcass in the flat.
