Macau fighter Bryant Ng Chon In defeated Hong Kong’s North Yip Chi-Hang in a Muay Thai battle at The Londoner Macao in Cotai on Saturday in his professional debut, securing a win of 29-28.

The event, “Fairtex Fight Muay Thai Boxing”, was held at The Londoner Macao on Saturday, featuring renowned Thai and top international fighters.

Yip, 29, said by fellow pugilists to be particularly skilled in the use of powerful punches and devastating kicks, made his debut in Macau on Saturday, while 21-year-old Ng is known among fellow boxers for his exceptional punching ability. Both are in the men’s 69 kg class, according to the organiser earlier this month.

Each duel consisted of three rounds, with a time limit of three minutes per round.

According to local Chinese-language media reports, Ng said after his victory: “I’m satisfied and very happy, and excited, but I think I can fight better. As there was a lot of tension during the fight, it became more difficult in the second and third rounds. I endured a lot of punches from my opponent, and I felt dizzy after that, but I finally made it to get up to continue. It’s all about willpower.’

A total of nine bouts across a range of weight classes were featured by Muay Thai boxers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Thailand on Saturday.

The only women’s bout was in the 50.5 kg category between Hong Kong’s Yip Wing-Yan and mainland’s Li Lishan, with Yip winning 30-27.

Muay Thai is a traditional unarmed martial art originating from Thailand, combining technique, strength, strategy and willpower, with high demands on the fighter’s speed, explosive power and flexibility, according to Wikipedia.
