The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday that regular inspection and maintenance will be carried out on the Ruins of St. Paul’s (former Mater Dei Church), with some of its surroundings to be closed on September 3 and 4 (next Tuesday and Wednesday).
Mater Dei means “Mother of God” in Latin.
During the period, weeding removal and regular inspection will be carried out on the façade’s bronze statues. The forecourt area in front of the ruins’ façade and areas of the Ruins of St. Paul’s College including the “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time” – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s, and the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt will be closed during the maintenance period, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, temporary barriers, the statement added, will be set up on the forecourt and staircase of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed monument from 6 p.m. next Monday.
Enquiries can be made by calling the bureau on 2836 6320 during office hours.
