The Transport Bureau (DSAT) will announce the officially approved models of crash helmets on June 13 when the executive order regulating the safety standards of the protective headgear takes effect, according to a DSAT statement released at the weekend.
The executive order was promulgated in June last year and will take effect after a one-year transition period, after which riders and passengers wearing crash helmets which fail to meet the official standards face a fine of 600 patacas.
The bureau has begun to accept applications for the approval of crash helmet models, but will only announce the officially approved models on June 13 in the bureau’s various service centres and on its official website.
