Macau International Airport operator CAM said in a statement last night that its land reclamation project to expand the airport is now scheduled to get off the ground before the end of this year and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2030.
The statement also underlined that the expansion will raise the number of the airport’s annual passenger-handling capacity to 15 million.
The statement noted that the local government formally granted CAM yesterday the necessary land concession enabling the reclamation project to get off the ground, which came after the central government formally greenlighted the reclamation project in late 2022.
The statement pointed out that the expansion project will reclaim the coastal waters between the runway and the two taxiways to expand the apron’s capacity in order to build more aircraft stands and build fast lanes for taxiing.
The reclamation area will be 1.29 square kilometres.
