The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday that Macau has recorded the highest single-day number of public bus passengers, during this year’s National Day Golden Week holiday.

The mainland’s 2024 National Day Golden Week holiday lasted seven days, from October 1 to 7.

Yesterday was the last day of this year’s seven-day National Day Golden Week holiday in the mainland.

Yesterday’s DSAT statement said that Macau recorded over 800,000 public bus passengers a day on both Thursday and Friday last week, i.e., the third and fourth days of the National Day Golden Week holiday, exceeding the 800,000-benchmark for the first time.

According to DSAT data on its website, Macau recorded about 801,000 and 803,000 public bus passengers on Thursday and Friday last week.

According to the DSAT data, the third, fourth and fifth highest single-day number of public bus passengers were around 769,000 on September 16 this year, 762,000 on October 4, 2019 and 759,000 on October 3, 2019.

Yesterday’s statement also said that the city recorded a total of 3.616 million public bus passengers during a five-day period from October 2 to 6, or a daily average of 723,000, a 15-percent increase from the same period of last year.
