The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin have joined hands and launched an internship programme entitled “2024 Macau Youth Cultural Tourism and Exhibition Industry Internship Programme”, according to a DSAL statement yesterday.

To align with the government’s “1+4” strategy to promote the appropriate diversification of Macau’s economy and to cultivate talents in the cultural, tourism, and exhibition sectors, the programme will provide 20 positions including guides and jobs in the areas of public relations, graphic design, and operational management.

According to the statement, the Livelihood Affairs Bureau in Hengqin plans to host a special exhibition of precious cultural relics at the Hengqin Cultural Arts Centre from late this year to early next year, which will be held in both Macau and Hengqin, aiming to provide high-quality public cultural services to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) residents.

The internship programme will last for eight weeks, and during the internship, accommodation and basic living expenses will be subsidised, with each intern receiving a living allowance of 5,000 patacas every four weeks from DSAL, along with a one-time 500-pataca subsidy for round-trip transportation and travel insurance, the statement said.

Additionally, the Hengqin bureau will provide a living allowance of 4,000 yuan every four weeks, arrange free accommodation, and purchase accident insurance for each intern, while other expenses will be the responsibility of the interns, the statement said.

Applicants must hold a valid Macau ID card (BIR) and a Hong Kong-Macau travel permit (commonly known as the “Homecoming Permit”), be under 35 years old as of the application deadline, and possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from a university in Macau or elsewhere, and meeting the skill requirements for the internship positions.

The application period will close at noon next Tuesday. Interested individuals can check out the programme’s official website at https://www.dsal.gov.mo/zh_tw/standard/employment_recruitment_intern.html for more information.
