SJM Resorts said in a statement earlier this week that it has recently organised the “Little Driver, Grand Racing” at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai, which offered participants a “thrilling preview” of the iconic Macau Grand Prix (MGP).
The 71st MGP will take place from November 14 to 17.
According to the statement, 24 children and parents from the Good Shepherd Sisters Women’s Mutual Help Centre participated in the event, where the integrated resort operator’s “GLP Arte” was transformed into a “vibrant racing carnival”.
The statement said that professional instructors guided participants in a workshop that explored race car mechanics and control techniques. The statement added that the children were also able to paint their own race car models, while a remote-controlled car competition was also held that enabled participants to “experience the thrill of racing firsthand”.
The children also visited the “Sportopia” game zone that was themed around the Macau Grand Prix and featured a virtual reality (VR) “Speed Racer Game”, which aimed to provide participants with the “unparalleled excitement and fun that racing brings”.
“Through these engaging and informative car racing themed activities, SJM hopes to spark a deeper understanding and interest in racing among children, contributing to the legacy of Macau’s racing culture and competitive spirit”, the SJM statement noted.
