The Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) held a one-day session and opened a month-long exhibition on smart upgrading solutions for the catering industry at the Forum Macao Complex in Nam Van, showcasing nearly 90 pieces of smart catering equipment, including automatic noodle cooking machines and food delivery robots.
Forum Macao is the shortened name of the Macau-based Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
The session yesterday was attended by about 60 representatives of catering enterprises, introducing flexible financing models of the catering industry and how enterprises can create profits with the digital economy and digital transformation to promote innovation and upgrading of the catering industry, meanwhile helping the industry understand the advantages of using smart devices.
CPTTM representative Lam Tou, said that the government has been holding monthly sessions at the Forum Macao Complex since June, adding that more than 300 business representatives participated in the past four sessions.
Lam also said that the kitchens in the catering industry in Macau are relatively small, and there are also limitations on electricity consumption, and the industry prefers small equipment when purchasing it.
One of the speakers yesterday, Tai Chi Hong, a manager of an engineering company, said that much of the catering equipment purchased by small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the mainland was not suitable for use in kitchens in Macau, which involved problems of excessive size and high-power consumption. Tai said that his company would contact mainland manufacturers to adapt the equipment to better suit the local environment.
The exhibition can be seen at the Forum Macao Complex until November 30.
