“A Racing Legacy – Drivers’ Collection Exhibition” was inaugurated at the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Museum yesterday morning.
On display until February 3, the exhibition showcases racing memorabilia such as autographed helmets, gloves and racing suits, along with the history of SJM and Theodore Racing’s collaboration.
The exhibition was inaugurated by SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu Fung, Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and local racer and two-time MGP Formula 4 winner Charles Leong Hon Chio, who also has a section dedicated to him at the exhibition.
Leong, 23, won the MGP F4 races in 2020 and 2021. A statement provided by the integrated resort operator yesterday noted that Leong is representing the SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing Team in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series, with the team having claimed multiple podium finishes in recent rounds across Australia, Malaysia and South Korea.
In her speech, Ho said: “Through this special exhibition, we hope to strengthen the community’s connection to Macau’s racing heritage and inspire the next generation to carry the torch forward”.
The opening ceremony was attended by over 50 high-school students, who proceeded to participate in a talk entitled “A Racing Legacy – Where Local Drivers’ Dreams Take Flight”. There, Leong spoke about his career, how he got into racing, and advice regarding the sport, among others. The students were also able to ask Leong questions after the session.
Both the talk and exhibition were part of SJM’s “A Racing Legacy” outreach activities for the upcoming 71st Macau Grand Prix, which will take place from November 14 to 17.
Moreover, yesterday’s SJM statement noted that “A Racing Legacy – Lamborghini Supercar Display” is set to take place at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai from November 11 to December 1, during which the super cars Revuelto and Huracan will be showcased at the integrated resort’s East entrance. Street dances and magic performances will also be held on weekends.
