A local man banned from driving was arrested for drunk driving on Saturday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Chi Weng said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect in his forties is surnamed Cheang.

According to Wong, on Saturday night when police officers were operating a roadblock in Avenida do Doutor Rodrigo Rodrigues (羅理基博士大馬路), they saw Cheang turning his motorcycle into a road with a no-entry sign. Upon interception, police found that he did not have a driving licence and was reeking of alcohol. Wong added that a breathalyser test showed that the driver’s alcohol concentration was 1.6 grams of alcohol per litre of blood.

Under questioning, Leung admitted to drinking in a restaurant in Zape earlier that night and borrowing his friend’s motorcycle to ride home.

Cheang’s case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Officer (MP) where he faces aggravated disobedience and drunk driving charges.
