The private Catholic University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is set to hold its 2nd International Symposium on Children and Youth Health and Well-being on its Ilha Verde Campus.

The two-day event, which will be held in English and Chinese from tomorrow, follows up on last year’s successful symposium, according to a statement on the USJ website. This year’s interdisciplinary symposium is one day longer than the previous edition and aims for scholars, practitioners and decision-makers “to connect and make meaningful contributions to knowledge and policy-building about children and youth health and well-being”, the website noted.

The event will feature keynote speeches, parallel sessions on related topics and workshops, among others. The keynote speeches, the website said, will include topics such as “Research on the Innovative Mechanism of Digital Application of Care Services for Rural Left-Behind Children based on Inclusive Design” and “Mindfulness Meets Technology: Relieving Depressive Symptoms in University Students with Chatbot”.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, keynote speeches will focus on the topics “Temporal processing and reading in Chinese children with dyslexia”, which will be in English, and “Youth development and mental health issues in Taiwan”, according to the website.

The Macao Foundation-sponsored event is organised by USJ’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the Macao Observatory for Social Development at USJ, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Rutgers University School of Social Work, and the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau. It is supported by the Hong Kong Shue Yan University Social Work Department.
