A mainland man with a pending trial for fraud, because of which he has been banned from leaving Macau, has been arrested for selling methamphetamine, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lei Chi Hou said during a special press conference yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Ye, is 48 years old.
According to Lei, Ye was suspected of committing fraud in June last year, leading to authorities restricting him from leaving Macau. Since then he had stayed at local hotels.
The police had received a tip-off recently about a man selling drugs in the central district. After identifying Ye, the police intercepted him on Monday at a hotel in the city centre, seizing 18.21 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of about 60,000 patacas. Additionally, electronic scales and drug paraphernalia were found in his hotel room.
Ye tested positive in a urine test and refused to cooperate during questioning. He was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing drug-related charges.
