The US Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau said in a statement it postponed its consular service in Macau scheduled for yesterday because the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) failed to issue the required visas in time, making it impossible for consuls of the Consulate General to travel to Macau to provide its services as planned.
“Consular services for today in Macau have been postponed due to the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China refusing to issue the required visas in time for our Consuls to travel to assist US citizens resident in Macau,” according to yesterday’s message by the US Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau for US citizens in Macau on its Facebook Page.
The statement also reminded US citizens to refer to the consulate general’s travel advisory for more specific information about the Consulate’s ability to offer its services in Macau.
