Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chao Teng Hin said in a regular press conference yesterday that 17 people have fallen victim to concert ticket scams in the past week.

The victims, comprising two males and 15 females, include four local residents and 13 mainland Chinese, 14 of them under the age of 30.

According to Chao, the fraudsters offered concert tickets to the victims on social media, with some even pretending to be staff members of the events to make the victims trust them. Some scammers even provided the victims with a phishing website and instructed them to transfer the payment. Once the money was sent, the victims lost contact with the fraudsters.

In total, the 17 victims lost 112,330 yuan (123,290 patacas), with the largest individual loss amounting to 26,360 yuan.
