A local man banned from driving was arrested on Thursday for disobedience after being caught using a phone while driving, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Cheong Im Sim said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Lao is in his forties. He told the police that he’s jobless.
According to Cheong, on Thursday afternoon a police officer on patrol in Rua de Corte Real (噶地利亞街) saw Lao using a phone while driving. The officer promptly intercepted him and upon checking the records, he discovered that Lao has been banned for speeding from July 30 last year to February 28 this year.
Under questioning, Lao confessed to being in violation of his driving ban.
Lao has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a disobedience charge, according to Cheong.
