The annual Albergue SCM* Wishing Well and Love Tree are again open in Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro (瘋堂斜巷).

Having kicked off earlier this week and staying open until March 10, one can drop a coin into a wooden bucket and make one’s wishes for the Chinese New Year, while one can also write a message down on a heart-shaped paper and hang it up around the well or on the tree.

According to information displayed at the venue, the event organised by CAC – Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (“Circle of the Friends of Macau’s Culture”), is held in support of World Cancer Day, with the funds raised to be passed on to Caritas Macau which then go directly to cancer patients in need. The coins will be collected from the bucket and then transferred to the nearby donation box, where one can also make one’s donations directly.

*SCM stands for Santa Casa da Misericórdia (“Holy House of Mercy”), Macau’s oldest charitable organisation.
