The Judiciary Police (PJ) on Tuesday arrested an Indonesian couple in San Kio district for drug abuse and trafficking, with 105 grammes of cocaine and 0.73 grammes of methamphetamine (aka ice) worth 210,000 patacas seized, according to a special press conference yesterday.

PJ spokesman Chao Teng Hin identified the two suspects during the press conference – the male, aged 45, is surnamed Edi, while the female, aged 39, is surnamed Muchidatun. The two told the police that they work as a cleaner and a domestic helper respectively.

Chao said that upon receiving intelligence that Edi was selling drugs to his compatriots in the city centre, the Judiciary Police put him under surveillance and arrested him on Tuesday in San Kio district. He added that PJ officers later took Edi to his home in the area where they found Muchidatun.

Chao noted that the duo tested positive for drugs, and both were believed to have been trafficking drugs for at least two weeks.

In the operation, according to Chao, the Judiciary Police seized 37 packets of cocaine weighing 105 grammes, one packet of ice weighing 0.37 grammes, and 15,000 patacas of suspected drug proceeds.

The Judiciary Police transferred yesterday the two suspects to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where they are facing drug trafficking charges.
