Macau's inflation rate dipped by 0.2 percentage points to 0.74 percent last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
However, according to a DSEC statement this week, the compositve consumer price index (CPI) for last month rose by 0.23 percent year on year and by 0.2 percent month on month.
The price index of Food & Non-alcoholic Beverages, which had a weight of 29.47 in the CPI, increased by 1.1 percent year on year in 2024. In contrast, the price index of Transport (weight: 8.33) dropped by 3.26 percent, namely due to a decrease of 23.55 percent in the price index of passenger air transport (weight: 0.56). The price index of Housing and Fuels (weight: 34.47) grew by 0.45 percent year on year, with that of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) (weight: 0.72) up by 6.49 percent.
For the fourth quarter of last year, the average composite CPI rose by 0.28 percent year on year.
