The spokesperson said a woman reported the case to the police on Monday, saying that HK$50,000 and 50,000 patacas in cash as well as jade jewellery worth 30,000 patacas had been stolen from her flat in Rua do Patane. She told the police that the cash and jewellery were kept in a hidden compartment in her bedroom.
After investigating, the spokesperson said, the police assumed that the victim’s domestic helper, a 31-year-old Vietnamese woman surnamed Do who had been working for the victim for four years, was the suspected culprit in the case.
