The Public Security Police (PSP) apprehended a local man yesterday for driving without a licence, speeding and drunk driving, with his blood alcohol concentration standing at 1.27 grams per litre, PSP spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Wong identified the suspect as a man surnamed Fok, who is in his thirties and works as a chef.
According to Wong, the Public Security Police (PSP) set up a roadblock at 4 a.m. yesterday on Avenida Norte do Hipódromo (馬場北大馬路). During the operation, a car driven by Fok was stopped for speeding, as it was travelling at over 70 kilometres per hour. The police noticed that Fok was reeking of alcohol, and a breathalyser test confirmed his blood alcohol concentration at 1.27 grams per litre, confirming a drunk-driving offence.
The speed limit on public roads is 60 kph.
Additionally, the police discovered that Fok had no driving licence. Under questioning, Fok admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages while with friends in Fai Chi Kei (筷子基) district the night before and then driving home.
Fok has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) and is facing charges of drunk driving, speeding, and driving without a licence.
