With the aim of enhancing the safety and security* of children in childcare centres, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) has formulated specific implementation arrangements and related guidelines for its Child Care Videotaping Scheme (for nursery beds and activity areas) in conjunction with the Personal Data Protection Office (DSPDP).
A total of 86 participants, staff from 49 childcare and non-subsidised childcare and 12 management entities, attended the exchange session held on April 25 to give their views on the implementation arrangements and guidelines of the Videotaping Scheme. The bureau requires child care centres wishing to participate in the programme to submit an application.
The bureau announced details of the session in a statement last week.
Upon acceptance of the application, the respective child care centre needs to implement the programme in accordance with the approved videotaping arrangement, including its nursery bed and activity areas.
During the exchange session, participants expressed their views on how to help improve the programme and develop the subsequent implementation arrangements. In addition, the child care sector can provide suggestions to the bureau by email before May 23 to help the bureau further improve the scheme.
The programme is slated to be implemented in the third quarter of this year, and applications from the sector will only be accepted if the safety and well-being of children in the respective child care centres is ensured.
