SJM Resorts has announced in a recent statement that its authentic Italian restaurant, Don Alfonso 1890 at Grand Lisboa Palace in Cotai has been awarded the 2025 MECC EuroExcellence Award in the Food and Beverage category.
According to the statement, the recognition was presented during the 11th Annual Gala Dinner of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) last Friday.
Don Alfonso 1890 earned the award due to its “high-quality European cuisine, exceptional customer service, and successful cultural introductions to the local community”, according to the statement, which added that the award highlights the restaurant’s significant contribution to gastronomy as a means of cultural exchange and emphasises its role in enhancing Macau’s status as a UNESCO “Creative City of Gastronomy.”
The statement said that the restaurant brings the legacy of its MICHELIN-starred Italian namesake to Macau, and pays tribute to “the cultures, values, and traditions of its origins” with workmanship, professionalism and creativity.
The restaurant also uses fresh produce sourced from its organic farm Le Peracciole (“The Pears”), and maintains a close relationship with the original culinary team in Italy.
The MECC EuroExcellence Awards recognise achievements by local businesses across various categories, including Luxury, Food and Beverage, Blue and Green Innovation, Greater Bay Area Sino-Europe Cooperation, and Small and Medium Enterprises. “These local businesses promote Macau as a platform for Sino-European collaboration, strengthening ties between Macau businesses and the European markets”, the statement said.
