A middle- aged local man ‘fell’ from a height and died upon impact on Saturday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.

According to statement, the Judiciary Police received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) at 16:55 on Saturday about a middle-aged local man found lying on the road near Rua de Mong Sin (望善街), suspected to have fallen from a height. The injured man was rushed to the public Conde S. Januário Hospital for emergency treatment. At 17:05, the hospital informed the Judiciary Police that he was pronounced dead after emergency treatment had failed to save him. The Judiciary Police have started an investigation.

The statement pointed out that a preliminary forensic examination showed that the injuries were consistent with falling from a height, and no other suspicious injuries were found.

The statement noted that PJ officers conducted an on-site investigation, which was consistent with the circumstances of a fatal fall from height.

Meanwhile, a young local female body was found floating in the sea near Rua do Almirante Sérgio (河邊新街) on Saturday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.

The Judiciary Police were informed by the Fire Services Bureau (CA) at 23:55 on Saturday of the discovery of a female body floating in the sea near Rua do Almirante Sérgio. The body was later transferred to the Barra Pier by the Macau Customs Service and confirmed to be deceased. The Judiciary Police have opened an investigation, according to a PJ statement yesterday.

The statement pointed out that the deceased is a young local female.

After a preliminary forensic examination, the deceased was identified as a young female of Chinese nationality, though no identification documents were found on her. No suspicious injuries indicative of criminal or violent acts were found on the body.

The two cases have provisionally been listed as “dead bodies found”, and their exact cause of death will be determined after an official autopsy, the statement said, adding that both cases have been transferred to the PJ Offences Against Persons Section for follow-up.
