The recently held “Champion Car of the First Asian Grand Prix Macau – Illustration Competition” drew a total of 88 entries, the winners of which were awarded on Friday at a ceremony hosted at the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Museum in Nape.

Entries for the contest were submitted between April 7 and 20, themed around the museum exhibit of the Triumph TR2 driven by the champion of the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) in 1954, Portuguese driver Eduardo de Carvalho, and featuring it as the core subject.

The winner of the “Secondary School” category, which was for those aged between 13 and 18, was Chan Hei Wo, while Leong Sam U and Ma Nim Ian took home the second and third prizes respectively, according to a statement by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) on Friday.  Meanwhile, in the “Public” category, which comprised those aged 19 and above, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Tam Iok Meng, Lam Si Cheng and Cheang Ka Ian respectively.

There was a total of 30 awards given out during Friday’s ceremony, the statement said. Aside from the top three awards per category, there were also online choice awards, merit awards and finalist awards. The winning works, the statement said, are being showcased on the basement level of the museum until September 1. The full list can be found on mgpm.macaotourism.gov.mo

The contest was organised by the museum in partnership with Macau Creations Limited.

Friday’s ceremony also saw the unveiling of 1:18 and 1:43 scale model cars of the Triumph TR2, which are on sale at the museum’s gift shop, according to the statement.
