The Health Bureau (SSM) announced in a statement yesterday that a 50-year-old local woman with chronic diseases is in a critical condition caused by influenza B.
According to the statement, the woman developed a fever and shortness of breath on Friday and sought medical attention, when she was diagnosed with influenza B and pneumonia, and prescribed Tamiflu.
The statement did not elaborate on where she sought medical attention.
According to the statement, on the same day, her condition worsened with respiratory distress, prompting her transfer to the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre. Later that day, her condition deteriorated further, requiring intensive care (ICU) and ventilator support.
