The Pharmaceutical Supervision and Administration Bureau (ISAF) said in a statement on Friday that Batch No. 231203 of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) “Huoxiang Zhengqi Wan” (藿香正氣丸) manufactured by “Shin-Tai Herb Pharmaceutical Limited” in China’s Taiwan region, has been recalled from the local market after it was found that the total amount of mould and yeast in the medicine exceeded the limit of the official registration criteria.
The product is taken for colds, gastrointestinal discomfort, indigestion, vomiting, diarrhoea, food retention, heat stroke, and discomfort caused by changes in climate and environment.
According to the information provided by the importer, the affected batch of traditional Chinese medicine was supplied to community pharmacies in Macau. ISAF has already instructed the relevant pharmacies to suspend sales.
Residents who have purchased the affected batch locally, may consult the respective pharmacies.
For any enquiries, residents may call 8598 3233 during office hours.
