The spokesperson said the victim, a 26-year-old local engineer, told the police that he was walking near the World Trade Centre Macau in Nape in the evening when the suspect approached him.
The suspect told the victim that he had gambled away all his money and wanted to borrow some cash from him, according to the spokesperson.
