The local observatory announced on its website yesterday that a developing low-pressure area may turn into a tropical cyclone, while Macau is expecting to see cloudy weather accompanied by occasional showers and thunderstorms.
The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said on its website that a low-pressure area is developing in the central South China Sea and is expected to move towards western Guangdong and Hainan Island in the next day or two, with the skies over the city to gradually become cloudy, and occasional showers and thunderstorms will be experienced today and tomorrow.
As the low-pressure area may develop into a tropical cyclone, members of the public were reminded to stay updated on the latest weather information from the bureau, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Yellow hot weather alert remains, with the city expected to continue experiencing very hot weather today. Maximum temperatures may go up to 33°C or higher and the bureau again reminded members of the public to beware of heatstroke and to stay hydrated, while suggested measures are available on its website.
Macau has a two-level hot weather alert system, with Yellow signifying that it is “very hot” in Macau, while Orange denoting that it is “extremely hot” in the city.
