Months after her short film “Crash” was nominated for Taiwan’s “Golden Horse” film award, local scriptwriter Miki To Weng Kei’s latest work will see her return to her roots in theatre with a story that explores the sense of belonging to Macau through her characters who need to decide if they will leave or stay in the city.

To’s work is presented in the first half of the two-act play “Departures”, which is the result of the cultural exchange project “Twin Cities” organised by the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) that sees local artists work with the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre (SDAC) to conceive a new play.

Due to be staged at CCM on April 1-2, “Departures” is a 100-minute performance in Cantonese and Putonghua that is split into two acts, with the first part putting the focus on Macau and the second part on Shanghai.
