The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that the large-scale cultural and tourism event “POP MART MACAO CITYWALK” has, according to preliminary statistics, drawn around 153,000 people to its installations set up across the city, while the participation count for its consumption lucky draw reached 620,000 in its first phase (June 6 to 28).

The citywalk event, which lasts until September 21 and is organised by MGTO in conjunction with mainland Chinese toy brand POP MART, features installations set up at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro (瘋堂斜巷), Praça de Luís de Camões (白鴿巢前地), Largo de Santo Agostinho (崗頂前地) and Zona de Lazer da Rua do Pai Kok da Taipa (氹仔排角路休憩區).

The consumption lucky draw, meanwhile, is held in four phases. In the first phase, the statement said, 520,000 users entered the lucky draw after making the required-amount of purchases using one of the six designated payment platforms. The statement added that the total transaction value amounted to 680 million patacas while the participation count grew to 620,000. A total of 59,000 limited-edition gifts have been given out.

About 11,500 people shared photos at the installations on social media to receive limited edition postcards, which were claimed within an hour because of “enthusiastic participation”. Moreover, the POP STATION set up at the Ritz Building in Macau’s main square, Largo do Senado (“Senate Square”), received around 73,000 visits, the statement said.
