The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday that its environmental hygiene task force under the City Beautification and Sanitation Working Group will organise a beach cleaning activity at Hac Sa Beach this Saturday.
The event, titled “Beautiful and Clean Beach – Take Your Trash with You” aims to “remind the public to express their love for the beach environment through action”, according to the statement.
The statement pointed out that representatives from multiple government entities, organisations, and institutions will participate in the cleanup, including IAM, the Macao Customs Service, Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA), Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), Health Bureau (SSM), and Macau Residue System Company Ltd., (CSR) among others. Parents and their children are invited to join the activity, where they can work together to collect and classify rubbish for recycling.
Moreover, the statement noted that to further promote environmental hygiene at Macau two beaches, several government entities will set up game booths at Hac Sa Beach, sharing key messages such as proper waste disposal, recycling, marine cleanliness, and mosquito prevention.
The statement also urged beachgoers to use eco-friendly tableware and containers, take their rubbish with them when leaving, and separate recyclables to help reduce ocean pollution.
The statement added that following its city-wide cleaning campaign held between April and May, the task force will further arrange cleanup activities at Cheoc Van Beach and nearby waters. The initiative seeks to “raise public awareness on the hygiene of the community, beaches and water environment for building a beautiful and clean city together”, the statement said.
Members of the public are welcome to join the activity this Saturday and take part in safeguarding Macau’s natural surroundings.
