The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) launched its “World Heritage Stamp Tour” activity on Saturday, inviting members of the public to explore the Historic Centre of Macao and collect stamps designed by award-winning illustrator Yolanda Kog and produced by the bureau.
The activity, which lasts through December 31, is one of a raft of events hosted in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macao” on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which was on July 15, 2005.
The bureau said in a Saturday statement that for the activity, participants can use their own stamp collection albums, or its free activity stamp booklets provided at several locations, to collect commemorative stamps found across 22 World Heritage buildings in the “Historic Centre of Macao”.
Upon gathering four or more stamps, each representing an attraction, participants can join a lucky draw for souvenirs, which will start on Tuesday at several locations where one can pick up the activity booklets on a first come, first served basis.
The stamps were designed by Kog, who most recently won awards in two categories at the 2025 BIBF International Illustration Award. She has also taken part in various exhibitions in Macau and abroad.
BIBF stands for Beijing International Book Fair.
The statement said it is hoped that the event will enable members of the public to explore and revisit the Historic Centre of Macao, as well as “strengthen the connection between the [World] Heritage sites and their daily lives, and explore the multifaceted values and rich connotations of these places”, according to the statement.
The activity is just one of the many events to be hosted by the bureau about Macau’s World Heritage listing by the Paris-based United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). There will be activities for children and youngsters, while members of the public may also join various workshops at UNESCO World Heritage sites, photo spots, guided tours and a product design contest, just to name a few, a recent separate statement from the bureau pointed out.
More information on the various activities, as well as their schedules, can be found on www.icm.gov.mo/mhd20 or by calling 2836 6320.
