The Macau Visually Impaired People’s Rights Promotion Association held a meeting with officials from the Legislative Assembly Electoral Affairs Committee (CAEAL) yesterday to discuss the measures which the committee plans in order to assist visually impaired electors in the casting of their votes, a CAEAL statement said yesterday.
The legislative elections will take place on September 17.
CAEAL President Tong Hio Fong said earlier this month his committee was studying the possible design of ballot papers in Braille, based on feedback from the legislative elections four years ago that visually-impaired electors needed to be accompanied by others to cast their votes, which left some citizens worried about the confidentiality of their choices.
