The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) will soon initiate a cultural heritage evaluation of Coloane’s Lai Chi Vun Village and its traditional shipyards, IC President Leung Hio Ming announced yesterday.
This means that further demolitions of shipyards in the village will be suspended for at least a year, an official source said after the announcement.

Leung also said that once the evaluation process is launched, his bureau will request public works entities to suspend further demolitions of shipyards in the village.

The bureau made the announcement during a special press conference at its headquarters in Praça do Tap Seac.
