The Sands Shopping Carnival kicked off its four-day run yesterday afternoon at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, entering its sixth consecutive year and again presenting a raft of products and highlights until Sunday.
Spanning 21,000 square metres and continuing to provide a free business platform for local small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Sands retailers, the free-admission shopping carnival features over 580 booths across eight zones, among which is a new coffee zone.
Fairgoers at Macau’s largest sale event will find products ranging from household items to toys and Macau souvenirs to clothing and footwear, with over 260,000 products on offer. This also includes 5,500 one-pataca items, while discounts of up to 90 percent can be found. Games and activities, as well as dining options via the carnival’s international-cuisine food court area, are also available.
During her speech at yesterday’s opening ceremony, Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes pointed out: “Last month, the China Tourism Academy announced its ‘2024 Top 10 Outbound Tourist Satisfaction Destinations,’ with Macau ranking at the top position for the first time – an achievement made possible by the concerted efforts of the Macau community”.
She added: “We encourage the retail sector to closely align with market demands, continuously introduce products that resonate with customer preferences, and deliver attentive services to solidify Macau’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
Moreover, Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai noted in his speech: “We have provided nearly 3,400 booths to date, with 540,000 visitors over the past five editions of the carnival. A number of businesses have since established and elevated their brand recognition, and expanded their customer network”.
Wong added that the carnival has “become a tourism and leisure extravaganza and what began as an attraction primarily for visitors from Macau, Hong Kong and Zhuhai has now expanded to draw crowds from all over the 11-city Greater Bay Area (GBA)”.
The 2025 Sands Shopping Carnival is open from 12 noon until 10 p.m. through Sunday. More details can be found on https://en.sandsresortsmacao.com/sands-lifestyle/events/sands-shopping-carnival-2025.html.
