New Macau Association (NMA) activists yesterday urged the government-appointed Urban Renewal Council to draft urban renewal plans and projects based on the principle of improving residents’ living conditions.

NMA President Scott Chiang Meng Hin, accompanied by Vice President Sulu Sou Ka Hou, made the remarks during a press conference about urban renewal, at the group’s office in Nam Van.

Chiang criticised the council for being preoccupied with details of the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the city’s old and dilapidated buildings, instead of setting up resident-orientated concepts or principles for the city’s urban renewal projects.
