Officials of the Legislative Assembly (AL) have listened to the recordings of all the meetings of the legislature’s 1st Standing Committee and plenums about the Land Law, AL President Ho Iat Seng said on Friday, adding the transcripts show that the legislative intent of the law is the same as the standing committee’s conclusion.

The officials listened to the recordings to confirm the legislative intent of the law after legislator-cum-law professor Gabriel Tong Io Cheng submitted the draft of an “interpretative law” on the Land Law’s clauses regulating provisional land concessions to the Legislative Assembly (AL) for debate and vote last year. Tong’s fellow lawmakers rejected to debate and vote on his bill.

Ho made the remarks on the sidelines of Friday’s plenary session, saying it had taken the staff members a long time to listen to the recording of 43 meetings. After the session, Ho gave a report about the recordings and related documents to all lawmakers. The Chinese and Portuguese versions of the report are available on the legislature’s website.
