The Macau Autism Association (MAA) urged the government yesterday to assign social workers and therapists to visit kindergartens so that children with autism can get help as soon as possible.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a sharing session about experiences and skills required to parent a child with autism, Sara Violeta das Neves Chiang, a psychotherapist by profession and a member of the MAA, told reporters that parents who think their children are autistic should seek treatment when the children are eighteen months old.

The session was held at the Macau Science Centre in Nape.
