The ongoing “Horst: Photographer of Style” exhibition presents works by fashion photographer Horst P. Horst at City of Dreams Macau (COD), hosted in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (V&A), according to a statement from COD.

German-American Horst (1906-1999) was renowned for his mastery of light, composition, and atmosphere, creating images that transcend fashion, the statement noted. The exhibition features facsimiles and reprints from V&A and the Horst Estate, highlighting key stages of his career.

The display explores themes including Haute Couture, showing the collaborative nature of Horst’s work with models, art directors, and set technicians in the 1930s; Surrealism, combining whimsical and dreamlike elements with classical aesthetics; Stage and Screen, capturing portraits of artists, writers, politicians, and royalty during the rise of cinema; Fashion in Colour, documenting Horst’s early adoption of colour photography for magazines such as Vogue; and Living in Style and his collaboration with US fashion columnist Diana Vreeland photographing the homes of creative figures, the statement highlighted.

A special section, Chinese Fashion: Photography from the 1990s to the Present, pays tribute to Horst by featuring works of Feng Hai, Mei Yuan Gui, Trunk Xu, Zeng Wu, and Nick Yang, reflecting three decades of Chinese fashion photography, the statement added

The exhibition is open daily for exhibitiongoers from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. next to LAN Bar at City of Dreams Macau in Cotai. It offers guided tours every afternoon and free admission for registered members. The exhibition is open until September 12.
