Macau logs 22.6 million visitors in Jan-July, up 14.9 pct

    Macau recorded 22.67 million visitor arrivals in the first seven months of the year, a year-on-year growth of 14.9 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced today.

Same-day visitors (13.16 million) and overnight visitors (9.51 million) rose by 25.5 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.

In July, Macau logged 3.45 million visitor arrivals, up 14.5 percent year-on-year.

The duration of overnight visitors’ stay remained unchanged at 2.4 days.

In July, the daily average of visitor arrivals stood at 111,560.

Visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 17.4 percent year-on-year to 2.56 million last month, accounting for 74.1 percent of the total number of visitor arrivals.

Visitors from China’s Hong Kong and Taiwan regions rose by 6.2 percent and 21.4 percent to 625,343 and 92,037 last month, respectively.

Foreign visitors rose by 2.8 percent year-on-year to 177,774 in July, accounting for 5.1 percent of all visitor arrivals. Philippine (37,912) and South Korean (32,288) made up Macau’s top-two foreign visitor segments.

Last month’s arrivals by air totalled 253,827, or 7.3 percent of the total number, a year-on-year decline of 8.6 percent. The remainder arrived by land or sea.
