In order to provide a valuable exchange platform for Macau’s artificial intelligence (AI) industry through the sharing of AI technology and practical case studies, “Smart Linking the Greater Bay Area (GBA) · Customer Service Innovation – The Greater Bay Area’s Large Model + Intelligent Customer Service Industry” seminar was held yesterday.

The one-day seminar took place at the public Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) in Zape.

CPTTM President Victoria Alexa Kuan Chan noted in a speech that Macau is currently in a critical period of industrial diversification and technological transformation. She pointed out that AI customer service technology has been widely applied in tourism, finance, retail, and other fields, offering multilingual support, personalised recommendations, and intelligent voice interaction functions.

Pachira Technology (International) Limited Chief Executive Officer Elwin Ho Kuok Tou told the media covering the seminar that Macau boasts rich AI application scenarios with immense potential, such as strong demand for intelligent call centres from government, financial, and gaming operators, as well as an urgent need to enhance monitoring efficiency through AI in casinos, which are equipped with extensive camera networks.

Ho pointed out that Macau already possesses technical capabilities in speech and image recognition, which can empower industries such as customer service, adding that the key to Macau’s AI development lies in building platforms and technology transferring experience.

Ho added that while there are young locals with potential to develop careers in AI, they lack experienced mentors and practical platforms, adding that he has established a training system where seasoned professionals guide local youth, aiming to form a local talent pipeline.
