The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a local man for sexually abusing a local boy, PJ spokesman Cheong Kim Fong said at a special press conference on Saturday.
Spokesman Cheong Kim Fong identified the suspect as a 33-year-old resident surnamed Chan who told police that he works as a clerk in the city centre, where PJ officers apprehended him on Thursday.
The spokesman did not reveal the ages of the four victims, merely saying that they are aged under 18.
According to Cheong Siu Keong, a subinspector of the Section for Offences against Person, the suspect’s case involves four underage victims who don’t know each other, but only the fourth victim was sexually abused.
Cheong Siu Keong said that recently, while investigating a case involving online child sexual abuse material, the Judiciary Police identified a suspect, Chan, who used social media platforms such as Instagram, X and TikTok to befriend local underage male students enticing them with gifts and cash to produce sexually explicit photographs. Through the “Communication Network for School Safety” mechanism, the Judiciary Police were able to identify the first victim.
The first victim, a male student, told PJ officers that during their online conversations, the suspect repeatedly tried to lure him with gifts and money to take explicit photos. However, the victim refused to comply, Cheong Siu Keong said.
Cheong Siu Keong also said that after being refused, Chan asked the victim to send him photos of his thighs. The victim agreed, took the requested photos, and sent them to the suspect. The victim met with Chan in person and received 850 patacas and a branded sneaker bag from him, Cheong Siu Keong said.
According to Cheong Siu Keong, a follow-up investigation identified three additional underage male student victims. The suspect similarly used money to lure them into sending him sexually explicit and nude photographs.
In the case of the fourth victim, Chan further seduced him into engaging in a sexual act in a public toilet in the city centre early this month, and Chan used his mobile phone to record a video of the act. Afterwards, the victim received 650 patacas from the suspect, Cheong Siu Keong said.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Friday, facing charges of sexual abuse of a child, prostitution of a minor, and child pornography.
