The 2nd Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Macao International Shorts Film Festival (MISFF) opened yesterday, ending on Sunday.
The weeklong festival is jointly organised by GEG and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
The festival featured yesterday’s opening ceremony, followed by film screenings throughout the week, workshops, industry forums, and a closing awards ceremony this Sunday.
According to the official website of MISFF, the festival is organised around five curated screening sections that showcase short films from around the world, aiming to focus on promoting local filmmaking talent and fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.
The festival aims to drive the growth of Macau’s film industry, build connections between local and international filmmakers, and spotlight the city’s cultural identity on a global stage, according to MISFF, adding that filmmakers, industry professionals and movie enthusiasts are invited to attend screenings, participate in professional workshops and engage in networking opportunities throughout the festival.
In addition to public screenings, the festival will host industry-focused sessions, slated to be held between Wednesday and Saturday, designed to facilitate knowledge and cooperation among filmmakers, producers, and festival programmers, according to the website, which noted that events across the week offer opportunities to discover fresh perspectives in short-form cinema and to celebrate the art of short filmmaking.
Film screenings are being held at Galaxy Cinemas in the integrated resort of Galaxy Macau in Cotai and Cinematheque•Passion near the Ruins of St Paul’s. Tickets are on sale on the Enjoy Macau Ticketing website at ticketing.enjoymacao.mo. Various discount packages are available, including a 50 percent discount for Student Card holders and the elderly aged 65 or above, as well as a 20 percent discount for members of the public who purchase 10 or more tickets.
