About 40 pre-sale buyers of Pearl Horizon flats held a meeting with Polytec representatives yesterday afternoon at the office of Polytec Group in Areia Preta, urging the developer to refund the money they paid for their flats, as promised by Polytec Chairman Or Wai Sheun, and set up a four-party meeting comprising the company, the pre-sale buyers, lawmakers and the government as soon as possible.

The Pearl Horizon residential project has been mothballed since the government decided in late 2015 to axe the ill-fated project’s temporary land concession that had expired. The government has repeatedly said that the issue must be solved in strict adherence with the Land Law. The developer, Hong Kong-based Polytec, is suing the government over the row.

Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association President Kou Meng Pok told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting that Or said in Beijing last month that his company was willing to refund the pre-sale buyers’, who had bought an off-plan property, down payments.

The protest banners urge the company to “return my blood and sweat to me.”
