Customs officers intercepted him, and a follow-up inspection revealed 10 laptops concealed in the battery box fitted with a latch for opening and closing it.

Customs nabs HK driver smuggling 305 used auto parts
Meanwhile, Zhuhai’s Gongbei Customs announced in a separate statement on Tuesday that its officers nabbed a Hong Kong driver attempting to smuggle 305 used auto parts via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge into the mainland.
According to the statement, customs officers at the delta bridge’s Zhuhai checkpoint noticed a single plate Hong Kong vehicle with an anomaly during a routine scan in the inbound passenger vehicle lane.
A follow-up inspection revealed 305 used auto parts concealed in multiple locations of the vehicle, including under the bonnet, beneath the seats, in the boot, and inside the spare tyre compartment.
The used auto parts were confirmed to have lost their original utility value and were classified as waste originating overseas, the import of which is explicitly prohibited by the Chinese mainland.
In the statement, Gongbei Customs reminded the public that under the Chinese mainland’s regulations the import of waste from outside is prohibited in any form. For those who violate regulations by transporting waste from overseas into the country, the authorities will order the waste to be returned and impose a fine; if the act constitutes a crime, criminal liability will be pursued.
