MGM has launched a new three-year programme with the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) to promote financial wellness among university students, according to a statement recently provided by the integrated resort.
The initiative, called the “Healthy Financial Literacy Campus Promotion Program”, was officially introduced last Saturday following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The programme aims to equip students with “proper financial values” and decision-making skills before they enter the workforce, the statement said.
Key components of the partnership include a “University Life” Financial Literacy Seminar, which will be integrated into MUST’s orientation programme, and a “Financial Wellness Creative Competition” encouraging students to submit short videos. The statement noted the goal is to blend popular culture with creative storytelling to make financial literacy more relevant to young people.
On the same day, MGM also hosted the launch of the third edition of its Financial Education School Tour. This initiative, carried out by the local Dream Theatre Association and guided by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), will visit over 20 schools this year, according to the statement. The 2025 tour, titled “Gen Z Earth Cup” uses interactive theatre to convey messages about responsible entertainment and smart financial habits to younger students. The statement said the programme has reached nearly 8,000 local students over the past two years.
MGM Executive Vice President Tian Han said in the statement that the company designs educational initiatives tailored to different age groups. “These two events exemplify our continued efforts to promote responsible gaming through collaboration with academic institutions, community organisations, and professional groups. Moving forward, we will continue to deepen public understanding of these values through cross-sector partnerships, creative content, and active social engagement, working together to build a healthier and better Macau,” Tian was quoted as saying.
