The spokesperson said a bank branch in Nape reported to the police in May last year that its ATM had seized three fake cards, and thus suspected that somebody had withdrawn money using counterfeit cards.
The police contacted all local banks and found that 70 fake cards were used for 84 attempted withdrawals from May 16 to 17 last year, with 22 withdrawals having been successful. About 32,000 patacas was withdrawn, according to the spokesperson.
