In response to the recent comments by the former general manager of the defunct Vang Iek Radio Taxi Company, Nichols Fong Nim Seong, that the operational performance of Macau Radio Taxi Corporation is poor, Kevin U Kin Lung, the new company’s general manager, said yesterday it was too early for Fong to make such remarks.

Vang Iek Radio Taxi went belly up in November 2014 when the government decided not to renew its licence after both sides failed to strike a deal after months of negotiations.

According to local Chinese-language media reports yesterday, U said that on the first five days of operation, his company had received about 4,000 booking requests which, however, only resulted in 800 to 900 pickups.
